During the winter, mice and other rodents want a place to stay out of the inclement weather, too. Your home is the perfect place for them. They find a warm, dark corner to nest in, and they have plenty of food and water. It is imperative that you seal your home against winter rodents, or you’ll be fighting them constantly.

Mice are adorable, aren't they? Those cute little ears. Those twitchy little whiskers. Those big black eyes... The fanciful way they roll around in the trash and then scamper across your cutting board. And don't get us started on the quaint little holes they chew in our cereal boxes or how they can bring hundreds of adorable little fleas into our homes! Who are we kidding? Mice aren't adorable. They're horrible! And so are rats.

Winter pests are starting to look for a warm place to live during the cooler months. If you thought you were done with pest control now that we’re well into fall, some of these bugs are going to be very happy. Just like you, bugs want to be warm for the winter.

There is nothing worse than trying to enjoy your yard and getting bit by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are parasitic insects that feed on the blood of their hosts (people and animals) in order for the female to get the necessary protein she needs to develop her eggs. Not only do these bites become itchy, but they can pose serious health concerns.

In spring, it’s pretty normal to see insects buzzing around. After the cooler temperatures of winter, all the bugs that weren’t active in the winter months make their comeback. Mosquitoes, dragonflies, honeybees, hornets… they all make an appearance. And while you certainly don’t want to see hornets around your house, there’s another type of flying insect that is even worse to have around your home: termites.

Bed bugs love people. The more people, the happier those bugs are. So, one of the biggest reasons bed bugs thrive in Richmond, Virginia, is because we have a lot of people here. More specifically, we have a lot of people who pass through our state. When those people come to see Colonial Williamsburg, Historic Jamestowne, Appomattox, and many other historical sites, they can leave bed bugs in hotels, motels, timeshares, and more.

Ants are sneaky little critters. Their diminutive size allows them to hide in the tiniest nooks and crannies, entering your home through impossibly small cracks and crevices. Most people don’t even know they have an ant problem until they wake up one morning to find tiny black ants all over their kitchen.

Ants are a type of social insect and are commonly found living in and around Virginia homes. Ants live together in large colonies and sometimes have multiple nesting sites, making them a very difficult pest to eliminate.
